Ganesh Rasik: Beloved Musician and Writer Passes Away at 78

Kathmandu, June 2 -- The renowned lyricist, vocalist, and composer Ganesh Rasik breathed his last on Saturday morning at the Nepal Cancer Hospital in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur, where he was receiving medical care.
Rasik had been suffering from prostate cancer and was undergoing regular chemotherapy.
His remains will be stored in the morgue at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital until Sunday, as his daughter is traveling from London, stated musician Bulu Mukarung.
Rasik, born in 1947 in Chhinamakhu, Bhojpur, was a versatile artist in Nepal’s cultural scene. He created enduring melodies such as "O Yangji Nana," "Nunjasto Bilne Jindagi Ko Dhakarma Bokera," "Dherai Samjhe Dherai Hunchha," "Hamro Gharbata Tyamke Danda," "O Shunyata," "Gharbeti Nani Anganima Deu Na Malai Bas," "Nakhelnu Juwa Ra Tas," and "Rato Bhale Kwanya Kwanya."
Rasik's literary works encompass Kshitij Lai Chhuna Khojda (a compilation of short stories), Rasikka Geetharu (a collection of lyrics), Aakashgangako Otmuni (a novel), Dashgajama Ubhyara, Jaba Sisnuharu Tekdai Hide, as well as his extensive five-part memoir titled Perungo.
He occupied several leadership roles in the arts industry, such as serving as the general manager at Ratna Recording Sansthan and the Rastriya Naachghar.
