Brave Hearts: Exhibition 'Bunyan Um Marsoos' Honors Armed Forces' Valor Worldwide
An impactful and emotionally stirring art exhibit called "Bunyan Um Marsoos – Canvas ki Zubani" commenced on Friday at the Lok Virsa Art Gallery, honoring the steadfast valor and sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces. This showcase united various art styles to reflect the nation's strength and endurance. Organized by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) within the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, the exhibition highlighted the fortitude, love for homeland, and selflessness displayed by Pakistan’s armed personnel via vivid expressions in art. At the inauguration were Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khichi, alongside Federal Secretary for National Heritage and Culture, Asad Rehman Gillani, among others such as artists, scholars, former service members, and ordinary citizens from different walks of life. Showcasing artworks across multiple techniques like oil paintings, sketches, calligraphy, truck decorations, and wooden sculptures, every creation mirrored profound national sentiment and respect towards those who safeguard the state. Featured contributors included Muhammad Farid (truck decor), Muzzamil (sketches), Irfan Butt (wood carvings), Muhammad Kabir (calligraphy), and Muhammad Hanif Ullah (paintings). Their pieces mesmerized attendees with compelling narratives infused with patriotic motifs. During his speech, Aurangzeb Khichi commended the efforts of the armed services ensuring national prosperity and safety: “This display honors our champions—a visual acknowledgment of their gallantry, dedication, and losses. In response to India’s provocation, both civil and military authorities acted cohesively, establishing fresh standards in defending our borders.” Highlighting Operation Bunyan Um Marsoos’ unifying effect nationwide, he conveyed hope that divine providence would shield these guardians just as they stand guard over all Pakistanis. Khichi further endorsed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s promotion of General Asim Munir to Field Marshal status as fitting recognition aligning well with popular desires; describing him as uniquely worthy amongst peers today. Recalling instances where air force flyers drafted last wishes prior embarking perilous sorties underscored acts emblematic of ultimate allegiance.
He stated that the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture will create a documentary aimed at documenting the endeavors of the armed forces and safeguarding their heritage via media platforms. Additionally, he mentioned that the top artworks showcased during the exhibition would be eligible for an award consideration.
Officials from Lok Virsa attended the event and commended the significant public engagement. Running through May 25th, the ongoing exhibition continues to attract sizable audiences, highlighting the country’s collective ethos and its profound respect for the artistic contributions of its military personnel.
