New Heritage Sector Steals the Show at Make it in the Emirates

The accords encompassed organizations such as the General Women's Union, Al Ghadeer Emirati Handicrafts which falls under the Emirates Red Crescent, the Ghars Center for Social Empowerment affiliated with the Fujairah Charity Association, along with the Department of Antiquities and Museums in Ras Al Khaimah.

Al Ghadeer Emirati Crafts, a nonprofit dedicated to training women in handicrafts through methods including Talli, Khous, Sadu, and pottery, will be participating in the exhibition. This organization has provided instruction to more than 470 women, turning conventional crafts into modern items such as bags and interior decorations. They have displayed their creations internationally across various countries including the United Kingdom, Italy, China, and others.

Also showcased is Khunair, the legacy brand from Beit Al Khunair, known for crafting Emirati daggers, coffee pots, and ceremonial items by employing age-old techniques handed down over generations. This brand aims to rejuvenate enthusiasm for heritage crafts and promote their value as profitable commercial goods.

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority is actively involved in promoting an appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and its significance in contemporary living. The exhibition showcases the regional variations of practices such as palm weaving, which mirror the richness of Emirati culture. Through blending conventional motifs with current design trends, they strive to bridge young people with their cultural roots.

In the meantime, Al Khaznah Leathers, an eco-friendly tannery located in Abu Dhabi , merges tradition with innovation. Established in 2003 as a vision of the UAE The company, inspired by the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, specializes in producing camel leather without chromium, employing environmentally friendly techniques. Their product lineup includes items such as handbags and aircraft interior materials. Additionally, their educational programs aim to rejuvenate conventional leather craftsmanship within an ecologically conscious and international framework.
