International Edition: Festival Highlights Rural Women’s Craftsmanship in Mirpurkhas
A single-day Women's crafts fair was held on Saturday in Mirpurkhas at a nearby venue, themed "Your Talent Is Also Your Profit." This initiative was jointly orchestrated by the Mirpurkhas Divisional Administration, Social Welfare Department, and various community groups. The primary objective of this gathering was to highlight the handmade creations produced by female artisans from the regions of Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar, offering these women an opportunity to exhibit their craftsmanship and connect with potential markets.
Chairman District Council Mir Anwar Ali Khan Talpur, serving as the main speaker, highlighted the significance of supporting rural women’s crafts to bolster the nation's economic strength.
He proposed that the Sindh government offer zero-interest loans to rural women with the aim of enhancing their skill sets. Divisional Commissioner Mirpurkhas Faisal Ahmed Uqaili also emphasized the administrative initiatives to establish exhibit stands at major grocery stores and launch online sales platforms for selling rural women’s crafts via the internet. This exhibition showcased more than 3,000 pieces of handcrafts such as embroidery, shawls, traditional artifacts, kitchenware, garments, footwear, bracelets, satchels, and pouches. Over fifty products were purchased by one hundred ladies throughout this occasion. At the fair, the Commissioner declared that the showcase will extend till Sunday to meet public demand. Attendees included officials from multiple divisions like Social Services, Finance, Public Health, and Law Enforcement. The celebration came about thanks to collaborative support from several establishments and community groups. Certificates of appreciation were handed out to members representing these entities in acknowledgment of their assistance.
